Christ’s letter to Sardis was written to a church with the words of Him who holds the seven spirits & seven stars.. The Sardis church was dead, but on the outside it still looked to be alive because of its brilliant past and the good works it was carrying out.. (referred to Revelation 3:1- I know your deeds, you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.)
We tend to measure the health of a church by all the activities we see going on, while God looks beyond the works to the motives. Revelation 3:1 says: “I know all the things you do, and that you have a reputation for being alive—but you are dead.” Christ told the church that their actions did not “meet the requirements” of God (v.2). In other words, they were not being performed out of love for God and in obedience to Him.
Our motives are important to God!
Do we carry out works to look good in the eyes of others, to overcome our feelings of guilt, or out of a sense of duty?
While our outward display of actions may be enough to fool people into thinking we are committed, alive, and vibrant, they won’t fool the God who knows our hearts!
** Remember God’s words in 1 Samuel 16:7, “The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Christ tells the few remaining believers in Sardis to wake up, strengthen, go back to what you first believed, and hold to it firmly (Revelation 3:2-3). By following that same pattern, we can make sure our lives are God-centered and our motives pure and holy.
(Original Version: Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent...)

We as a Christian,,
are we down with a lot of activities and forgetting God?
are we filling ourselves with wordly thinking so that we please assimilate in the secular society?
are we really the salt and light of our school and friends?
Lets think about that..!!!
